Managing Your Parked Domain with Net2Secure

Your domain with Net2Secure is considered parked when it's registered or brought into our system but isn't actively connected to a website. This often happens because:

  • The domain isn’t linked to any hosting plan or website yet.

  • It's set up for billing or has an owner but is not yet tied to a live site.

  • Its DNS settings (the internet's address book) point somewhere else or are not set up at all.

When someone visits a parked domain, they will just see a simple, basic placeholder page with your domain name on it. This guide will help you manage these domains using the Net2Secure Control Panel, your main tool for handling your domain, its settings, and its connections.

Why Domains Get Parked

Right after you register or transfer a domain to Net2Secure, we automatically set up some basic information for it. This information tells the internet to show a simple parking page. Your domain stays parked until you do something else with it, like:

  • Connecting it to a website you’ve built with Net2Secure.

  • Updating its records to point to a different hosting service you use elsewhere.

If a parked domain shows an error, it might be because these basic records are missing. You can get the parking page back by applying Net2Secure's default settings.

How to Park a Domain with Net2Secure

If your domain is currently connected to a website and you want to put it back into "parked" status:

  1. Log in to your Net2Secure Control Panel.

  2. Go to the Domains section, then to My Domains.

  3. Select the domain you want to park.

  4. Choose the option to Disconnect Site or Remove Hosting.

  5. The domain will automatically switch back to Net2Secure’s parking page.

Setting Up the Default Page for Parked Domains

To make sure your domain shows the correct parking page, you can apply or reapply the default settings:

  1. In your Control Panel, go to Domains and then My Domains.

  2. Select the domain you need to fix.

  3. Click on DNS Settings or a similar option.

  4. Click the button that says Apply Net2Secure Defaults to automatically set up the standard records.

  5. Save your changes.

After this update, your domain should correctly display the placeholder parking page.

Managing Who Owns and Contributes to a Domain

Even when a domain is parked, you can still control who has access to it.

Add Other Users:

  • Go to your domain.

  • Click on Manage Access or Contributors.

  • Enter the person’s email and choose what level of access you want to give them.

Change Ownership:

  • Go to the Domain Settings.

  • Use the Transfer Ownership option to give the domain to a new owner.

  • Be sure to confirm the new owner’s email and update the contact details, as this is very important for all future communication and transfers.

Moving a Parked Domain to a Net2Secure Site

It’s very simple to change your parked domain into a live website:

  1. In My Domains, find the domain you want to use.

  2. Click on Connect Site or Attach Hosting.

  3. Select an existing website you’ve already created, or start building a new one.

  4. Follow the steps in the setup wizard.

Once the connection is complete, your domain will no longer be parked and will display your active website.

What to Do After Your Domain Is No Longer Parked

A parked domain is just the first step in setting up your online presence. Now you can:

1. Build a Website

  • Log in to your Control Panel.

  • Go to Create Site.

  • Choose a template or upload your own design.

  • Connect your domain when asked.

  • Go through the rest of the setup to get your website online.

2. Set Up a Professional Email

Net2Secure makes it easy to set up email addresses that use your own domain name:

  • Go to Email Services in your Control Panel.

  • Choose your domain.

  • Pick your email plan (like Business Email).

  • Set up email addresses like you@yourdomain.com.

The system will automatically add the necessary records so that your email works correctly.
